GlossGenius Reception is not shutting down on November 30, 2026. Per GlossGenius's own Reception page, the free promotional period ends that day. Afterward, Reception remains an optional add-on with published pricing. If you run on GlossGenius—or you're comparing AI phone booking elsewhere—here's what the vendor pages actually say.

What GlossGenius publishes about the Nov 30 date

On glossgenius.com/reception (checked November 6, 2026), GlossGenius states:

  • Reception is free to use through November 30, 2026.
  • After that, it becomes an optional add-on at $50/month.
  • That price includes 100 minutes and 200 text messages each month.
  • Overages are $0.50 per minute and $0.05 per message.
  • GlossGenius says more plans for different call volumes will come later, without dates or prices yet.

The same page says Reception answers calls and texts 24/7, books into the GlossGenius calendar in real time, explains services and pricing, follows deposit / card-on-file / cancellation policies, manages a waitlist, and can handle multiple calls at once.

What to decide before Dec 1

GlossGenius's page does not spell out whether billing starts automatically for accounts that still have Reception on. Before the free period ends:

  1. Review real minutes and texts used during the free weeks.
  2. Compare that usage to $50 plus overages.
  3. Ask GlossGenius support what happens on December 1 if you leave Reception on.
  4. Turn it off before billing starts if it hasn't earned its place.

If you stay on GlossGenius

Staying is the simplest path: Reception is built into GlossGenius, so services, staff and calendar are already there. The tradeoff is lock-in to GlossGenius pricing for both the booking platform and the Reception add-on.

If you need AI phone booking outside GlossGenius

Compare products by what they book into, not by marketing labels:

NeedCheck the vendor page for
You already use Square AppointmentsA third-party AI receptionist that books into Square. Square's own AI voice feature is for orders, not appointments (Square Support).
You already use BooksyBooksy's AI Receptionist (beta) books onto the Booksy calendar; Booksy says appointments with No-Show Protection are not supported in the first version (Booksy AI Receptionist).
You want phone deposits on SquareAsk whether the agent texts a Square payment link or only books the slot.
You need after-hours coverageConfirm 24/7 answering vs business-hours-only modes.

A practical comparison checklist

  • Does it book during the call, or only text a booking link?
  • Does it use your live calendar (GlossGenius, Square, Booksy, etc.)?
  • Does it enforce deposits / card on file the way your online booking does?
  • What happens on complaints, custom consults, or services that need you?
  • What's included in the monthly fee vs per-minute overage?

Where AyoCosmo fits

AyoCosmo is built for beauty pros who book on Square: an agent answers the shop line, works from your Square services and openings, and can text a Square deposit link so phone bookings follow the same rules as online ones. It is not a GlossGenius add-on. If you're leaving GlossGenius for Square—or already on Square and don't want a platform-locked receptionist—compare it on that checklist, not as a drop-in twin of Reception.

The bottom line

November 30, 2026 is a pricing change, not a product sunset, according to GlossGenius. Try Reception on real traffic before then, do the math on $50 plus overages, and only switch platforms if your calendar, deposits and phone workflow need something Reception can't do.
