Booksy AI Receptionist is Booksy's automated phone booking assistant for salons, barbershops and solo providers. It is in beta. This summary sticks to what Booksy publishes on its AI Receptionist beta page (checked November 6, 2026).

What Booksy says it does

According to Booksy:

  • Picks up when you can't—mid-appointment, after hours, or all the time (you choose).
  • Books from your service menu and real-time availability onto your Booksy calendar.
  • Recognizes returning clients by caller ID matched to your client database.
  • Creates a client card for first-time callers.
  • Speaks English or Spanish, matching the caller's language.
  • Filters spam / robocalls before they reach you.
  • Logs calls with a full transcript in your activity log.
  • Sends you a summary and callback request when it can't finish the request.

Booksy also says average calls are under 90 seconds on its marketing page.

Phone number setup

You do not have to give up your existing number. Booksy says it provides a dedicated Booksy phone number. You can:

  • Forward your current number to it when you want the AI to answer, then turn forwarding off, or
  • Give clients the Booksy number directly for instant booking calls.

Beta pricing Booksy publishes

For early access, Booksy says if you're one of the first 500 providers to sign up, the feature is free for at least 12 months, you get a direct line to the product team, and you can cancel anytime. Later pricing after that window is not published on the page we checked—confirm in your Booksy account before you depend on the free period lasting.

Important limit: No-Show Protection

Booksy's FAQ is clear:

Appointments with No-Show Protection enabled aren't supported in this first version, but will be supported soon.

If your Booksy services require a deposit or a strict cancellation / no-show policy through No-Show Protection, the AI Receptionist cannot book those appointments yet. That is the main gap for pros who rely on deposits to protect long services.

Who it's for

Booksy says solo providers can use it, not only multi-chair shops. Current Booksy providers can request access while it's in beta.

How it compares if you're not on Booksy

Booksy's receptionist books into Booksy. If your calendar and payments live in Square Appointments, you need a Square-connected agent instead—or you migrate platforms. Don't expect Booksy's beta to write into Square.

Where AyoCosmo fits

AyoCosmo targets Square-based beauty pros and can collect a deposit over a Square payment link on phone bookings—the kind of no-show protection Booksy's beta FAQ says is still coming. If you're evaluating Booksy's beta, use Booksy's own No-Show Protection limit as a go / no-go check for deposit-heavy services.

The bottom line

Booksy's AI Receptionist is a real, beta phone booker for Booksy calendars: bilingual, transcript-logged, spam-filtered, with early free months for the first 500. It is not yet a deposit / No-Show Protection booker. Read the FAQ on Booksy's page before you turn it on for services that require prepayment.
